Sometimes I wonder if I’m even a good person. I don’t volunteer much anymore, I never give coins to homeless people, I tell the people asking me to support Green Peace that I’m late for class when I’m not, I worry so much about my own personal gain. But this evening I was crossing the street and a girl dropped some money in the street. It was rainy and windy and it started blowing away. I made a huge fool of myself chasing it all down then running a whole block to catch her. When I got to her with the wet cash in my hand she looked so incredulous. “Thank you! Wow that’s so nice!” as if she hadn’t expected me to do that. I realized that it hadn’t even crossed my mind not to. It was the first and only reaction that I had. There’s my random act of kindness for the day, now I’ll to back to my greedy hoarding. The end.
